Rezum Therapy for BPH

We are committed to providing our patients with the most advanced and effective treatments for urological conditions. We are proud to offer Rezum™ Water Vapor Therapy, a cutting-edge, minimally invasive procedure for men experiencing symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as an enlarged prostate.

If you're tired of daily BPH medications and their side effects, or looking for an alternative to more invasive surgeries, Rezum™ may be an excellent option for you.

What is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)?

BPH refers to benign prostate gland enlargement. As the prostate grows with age, it can compress the urethra - the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body. This can lead to urinary symptoms, including:
  • Frequent daytime and nighttime urination
  • Urgent need to urinate, sometimes with leakage
  • Weak or interrupted urine flow
  • Difficulty starting urination
  • ncomplete bladder emptying
Left untreated, severe cases of BPH can lead to more serious complications such as bladder stones, urinary tract infections, or even kidney failure.

How Does Rezum™ Work?

Rezum™ Water Vapor Therapy uses the natural energy stored in water vapor (steam) to shrink the prostate. The procedure is performed in an outpatient clinic and takes only minutes. The Rezum™ device delivers controlled bursts of sterile water vapor directly into the targeted prostate tissue. When the steam contacts prostate cells, the stored energy is released, causing excessive prostate cells to die. The body naturally absorbs the treated tissue, causing the prostate to shrink and relieving pressure on the urethra, resulting in improved urine flow and reduction in BPH symptoms.

Key Benefits of Rezum™

Rezum™ offers several advantages for men seeking relief from BPH symptoms.
  • Minimally Invasive - Minor procedure, takes less than 10 minutes, typically painless
  • Conscious Sedation - Does not require general anesthesia, endotracheal ("breathing") tube, or spinal anesthetic
  • Clinically Proven - Improves urinary symptoms from BPH; supported by Level 1 Evidence
  • Preserves Sexual Function: Much lower rates of sexual side effects compared to other BPH treatments
  • Quick Recovery: Most patients can return to their regular activities within a few days.
  • Lasting Relief: Sustained and durable symptom improvement comparable to more invasive treatments.
  • Alternative to Lifelong Medications: Most men discontinue their BPH medications after Rezum™.

Comparison of BPH Treatments

This table shows average results for these common BPH treatments; individual results will vary. There are other BPH treatments which may be appropriate for some patients (for example, patients with extremely large prostates) and which are not included herein. While BPH treatments have not been compared directly in head-to-head trials, TURP is considered the "gold standard" surgery for BPH and is probably associated with the largest improvements in urinary flow.
