Rezum Treatment Now Available at Burlington Urology

2/20/2023

We are pleased to offer Rezum Prostate water vapour therapy to treat symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate, or BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia).

Men with BPH may experience urinary symptoms such as frequent daytime and/or nighttime urination, urgent need to urinate, and weak urine flow. In some cases, men with untreated BPH may develop bladder stones, incontinence, urinary tract infections, complete inability to urinate (urinary retention) and kidney failure.

Rezum is a quick, effective, minimally invasive procedure to shrink the prostate and reduce symptoms of BPH. There are no incisions, no general anesthesia, and most patients return to regular activities within a few days. The treatment is associated with much lower rates of sexual side effects  than other BPH treatments, including medications and surgery. Men generally experience a gentler recovery than they do following other BPH treatments such as Greenlight and TURP.  Note that Rezum is a privated procedure not covered by OHIP.
